This is what is going on in NYC, on top other things that have my boxers in a twist like that sugary drinks ban thing, Mayor Michael Bloomberg has these ads going up in bus shelters and subway stations, demonizing teen parents. As if these people need more pressure and stuff than what they already get from other places, they don’t need the faceless government of the city playing on stereotypes to make you out to be a shitty person. Not all teen parents are drop outs, deadbeats, or whatever, and to play that up is horrible.

This is what has happened in new york dunkin doughnuts, because of a ban on large sugary drinks put in place, without a real vote or anything, by the mayor, larger than i think 16 or 20 ounce drinks will be unsweetened and you’d have to add your own flavor shots or sugar, or they’d be fined by the city. Health things aside, I dislike bans on things just put into place without any choice. The mayor here has been just passing basically edicts for three terms (yes three even though the term limit laws were supposed to stop at two) on all kinds of things, trying to force people to be healthier by law. I’m a big fan of free will, where the person has the choice to do better or not. I’m also a big fan of these things being put to a vote, at least in the city council, just someone to debate the pros and cons about it, not just someone telling you that you can’t get something you want because it’s bad for you. Everyone knows that big sugared drinks are bad for you, and if you want to make a shitty choice, you should be able to.

The first page of Halloween, go read, because this is taking a while

I glared at the horde, which had swallowed most of my workings so far, and seemed like they wanted more. I trust forward my wand, sending streams of color into their faces. They roared the sound echoing in the cavernous hall. Distracted by that, my last trick, I deftly skirted the hordes roiling edge, making my escape.

Midnight

Two weeks, three bodies, pale, cold, with wounds on their necks. I looked up from the files that were given to me.

“You’re kidding me right? This isn’t…”

New York City Police Detective Martin Baker shrugged. “Hell if I know, why do you think I’m talking to you about it?”

I arched an eyebrow. “So you aren’t here for my charm, dashing good looks, and world class coffee?”

“Maxwell House is alright, but I prefer Folgers.” He sipped his instant coffee from a chipped mug. “And you’re pretty Daniel, but not my type. I like my men a little burlier.”
